POLICE UNITY TOURChapter VIII |
Chiefs AD Day Fundraiser – Our Police Chief has been raising funds for the Unity Tour the last three years by allowing employees to donate to the Unity Tour and in return get an Administrative Day (Paid Vacation Day). We raise between two thousand and three thousand dollars each year in this fundraiser. The donations are $5.00 for every hour, for example:
12 Hour Employees = $60.00 donation
10 Hour Employees = $50.00 donation
8 Hour Employees = $40.00 donation

Poker Tournament – Daytona Beach Kennel & Poker Room conducts a Poker Tournament for the Police Unity Tour where they donate $10.00 for every person that enters the tournament. This year we even talked to one of our local radio personalities and he did the same on a tournament that he holds at that location. We usually make about $1,400.00 on our tournament and we made $840.00 on the HOG radio Tournament. This fundraiser takes very little work on our part. We just show up to start the tournament up and we usually give two or three t-shirts as prizes. Submitted by Gary Sault - SaultG@DBPD.US
Poker Run - Our local Harley Owners Group conducts a poker run and gives the proceeds to the Unity Tour. They organize the event and we just show up to help register and provide police motor escorts. Last year the held the event on the same day as another poker run by mistake so we only made $1000.00. The year before we had the Blue Knights and the Gold Wing Club involved. We made over $3,000.00. Weight Loss/ Fitness Challenge - We ran a weight loss/ fitness challenge for a 60-day period. We collected $20.00 for each participant plus $5.00 cash for a cash prize to winner. We raised over $600.00 and there was very little work on our part. The city nurse weighed the participants in and out. One of our riders actually won the cash prize and donated it back to the tour.
